Cancer Care Western has begun the site preparation for the building of stage one of CareWest lodge for Cancer Patients.
CareWest Lodge will provide modest but comfortable accommodation in a mutually supportive environment for people from all over Western NSW who will be receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy at the new Orange Hospital. The Lodge will be on the Bloomfield campus of the new Orange Hospital.
The income received from the regional contributions and local donations, as well as a Australian Government grant of $ 1.3 million dollars and $ 500,000 from the NSW Cancer Council, has allowed this project to proceed to stage one of the build, which will be completed in late June 2011.
Vigorous fundraising continues as stage two will still need to be completed. Funds are urgently required for the furnishing of stage one. Many towns have raised income to furnish the rooms, major rooms will still require furnishing. Major cleaning equipment and income for computers, washing machines and fridges will still be required.
The yearly event Cruisin' Along will begin on the 7th May 2011
and run until the 13th May.
Registration is necessary as places are taken already. The drive will raise funds for CareWest Lodge and will also provide participants with a fun filled holiday.
Ages range from 28 years to 75 years, with a variety of cars, old beaten up indescribable selections of cars, new cars, four wheel drives.
For registration phone Terry Davis on 6362 0966
