Joy Engelman is a regionally based Australian artist with an extensive career painting the Australian landscape. Her art journey spans over 35 years of experience in teaching, practising and exhibiting in the visual arts.
With many solo and selected group art exhibitions behind her, Joy has received over 20 awards for both her art work and her commitment to the arts community.
She has recently participated in the 2007 Florence Biennale, the highlight of her career to date. Her painting "This Sacred Place" was awarded fifth place in paintings and Joy was given the Lorenzo il Magnifico Award.

I painted this image to show the moment that a boy’s love for cricket is captured, the moment when his heart is opened by the sport and the moment he is hooked for life!
As I thought about painting this image, I wanted to get the glint in the boy’s eye, the sheer enjoyment of the catch on his face!
I feel that it is an inspiring image!
