2008
Held in March the Pet Expo is a must for all who enjoy pets and animals.
The Pet Expo is to be a premier annual public promotion for all sectors of the pet and animal industries: Government bodies, industry associations, pet food manufacturers, petcare companies, veterinary groups, zoos and wildlife parks, animal welfare agencies, service and product suppliers, breed societies, publishers, trainers and groomers, retailers, wholesalers and distributors will be invited to participate.
  • To raise funds for local charities and groups.
  • To promote the awareness of the benefits of pets and animals and their interactions with humans.
  • To raise awareness of the great work done by four largely volunteer programs - the RSPCA, WIRES, Riding for the disabled and Delta.
What Happens:
Working with the RSPCA, Central West WIRES, RDS, Delta in association with the local Veterinary Association and numerous community groups, the Expo:
  • Shows visitors - invited from across NSW - all types of pet and animal products, services and activities.
  • Allows pet and animal groups and organisations to feature their specialties and present a variety of demonstrations.
  • Showcases a range of pet and animal products and activities.
  • Allows the people of Orange and throughout the Central West of NSW to see how pets and animals can help improve everyone's quality of life especially disadvantaged people.
  • Gives people the opportunity to enter competitions, watch displays and attend talks covering a range of interests in animal, pets, care and wildlife.
The Location:
Orange is some 250 km north west of Sydney, at the heart of the rich Central Tablelands.  Some 250,000 people live with in two hours drive of the centre.
Orange's Towac Racecourse is set on the southern edge of the city.  The site has superb views to imposing Mount Canobolas and is the gateway of the district's farms, vineyards, orchards and tourist attractions.
The Racecourse has grassy lawns and huge shady trees and generous on-site parking adjacent to the display area.  There will be demonstrations on the racecourse.

Who we've helped:
The Expo concept was first promoted in 1999 by the Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak as a Garden and Outdoor Expo.  In 2004, following 5 very successful years and recognizing the need to keep community events 'fresh' the Club decided to take another approach and explore the Pet Expo concept.  The 2005 & 2006 Pet Expos attracted huge support and were extremely successful
More than $120,000 has been raised for local projects during the Garden and Outdoor Expo, and the 2005, 2006 & 2007 Pet Expo'S, including:
  • Youth Suicide Prevention & PCYC Youth Projects
  • Take Time, Take Ten (Literacy Program)
  • Orange Botanic Gardens
  • Cancer Patients Assistance Society
  • Rehabilitation Program for the Elderly
  • Sailability boats (for the disabled)
  • Base Hospital humidicrib
  • Palliative Care
  • Mobile Blood Bank
  • Central West Heart Fund
  • RSPCA, Wires, Delta and Riding for the Disabled.
